The new..ish blog

Zodikitties welcome you to the new…ish blog! I’ve switched to WordPress, and hopefully will continue with it for a while.
Most of these posts were imported from Blogger, and are still pulling images from that blog. As a result, looking at post summaries may be a bit weird, but just click the individual post and everything should show up fine.
Bax Bear

Keep 6 Contemporary, a contemporary/ low-brow/ pop-culture gallery a few streets down, is having an upcoming exhibition for these vinyl toys called Bax Bear. They gave me one of the ‘DIY’ versions of the bear to paint as I wished, to be part of the show.
So, seeing how I’ve never painted a toy before (unless you include the really awful paint jobs I did on model aeroplanes back when I was a kid), I decided to document the inaugural process.

The idea was about fox spirits. According to legend fox spirits who live to over a thousand years old have 9 tails and are generally benign. Before this they are tricksters who sometimes shape shift into beautiful women to tempt and mislead men.
